Had a good weekend as the heading to the blog post indicated. Went for a frog walk and we saw four species of frogs and their tadpoles. Ah, it was good to see them froggies. Froggies are really important indicators of ecosystems and they're cute and all froggy besides. We saw a huuuuuuuuge frog, the Malayan Giant Frog. it was the size of a small laptop.
There were other treats for us. While walking back we saw a Colugo (one of the largest flying lemurs) in the trees. It scampered away from our lights and in annoyance leapt off the tree. She spread her arms wide and glid away accompanied by all our gasps and choruses of delight.
It's a different feeling, being slightly dirty, sweaty, damp, tramping around in the underbrush in the utter darkness relived only by the narrow and insignificant beams of our torches and hearing the sounds of the night around us. I love it.
